Aggrieved Chibok Women Storm Abuja, Protest At National Assembly Over The 200 Missing S.Girls

 

Aggrieved mothers and other indigenes of Chibok, Borno State, today in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, staged a protest to demand the immediate rescue or release of the more than 200 secondary school girls abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on April 14.

The protesters, most of them members of the Kibaku Development Association, Chibok, converged at Eagle Square in Nigeria’s capital. From there, they marched to the National Assembly to submit a protest letter. The women were led into the premises of the national legislature by a group of senior female police officers.

Senators Barnabas Gemade and Helen Esuene received the protesters, telling them that the Senate was considering a motion in relation to the abducted girls. The two senators assured that the content of the Senate’s resolution would be communicated to the women later today. The senators appealed to the

Norway will be celebrating the 200th anniversary of its constitution next month. To commemorate the event, the country’s government is opening a “human zoo” to re-enact an  exhibition that took place in the colonial era during the 1914 Norway World Fair, where Africans were exhibited as though they were animals.

Organizers of the “human zoo” re-enactment say they have chosen to embark on the project to enable important discussions about the legacy of colonialism and racism.

B' Haram takes Abducted Schoolgirls to Chad, Cameroon; Marries Them Off For N2,000 Bride Price Each

Most of the 234 Borno schoolgirls in Boko Haram captivity have been ferried abroad to Chad and Cameroon after they were married off to sect members on N2,000 bride price each, an elder told Daily Trust yesterday. the female students were taken from their hostels at the Government Girls Secondary School Chibok on the night of April 14. About 40 had escaped in the days after the incident, but parents and school authorities said at least 234 of them were yet to be found.
Dr. Pogu Chibok, who is the leader of the Chibok Elders Forum, told Daily Trust yesterday that latest information available to them indicates that most of the girls have been taken to the neighboring Cameroon and Chad by their captors.

She suffered an asthma attack and was immediately rushed to the hospital after initial intervention had failed but sadly died before getting there.

8yrs Old Missing girl found under policeman’s bed in lagos

A Mobile policeman identified as Gbuchenge Augustine with Force number 400823 in Lagos, is on the run following a foiled  attempt to allegedly use an eight-year old girl for ritual. The girl identified as Amarachi, was found under his bed in his one-room apartment at Olufowobi Street, Ikosi Ketu with her mouth gagged and legs and hands tied. When she was eventually rescued  by neighbours, little Amarachi had injuries on her skull and neck. Trouble started for the policeman in the evening of Thursday last week when the parents of the girl, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Abakwan, who had gone out for their businesses returned and did not find their daughter, Amarachi at home.

The girl’s father, a driver with Strands Communications Limited, told journalists that when he returned from work, he noticed that Amarachi did not come to greet him and when he  queried his wife on her whereabouts, he was told that she was asleep.

If April 21 had been Good Friday rather being Easter Monday, it would have been said that the beating received by Anthony Wayas, resident in Finima community in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, was in commemoration of what the day stands for in Christendom, but the alleged act of defilement and incest brought against the 32-year-old man was an act abhorred by not only Christians but the society in general. It took the intervention of policemen from Finima police station, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Mohammed Suleiman Baba, to rescue him from the mob  which showed distaste for the alleged act.
Wayas is currently being interrogated by the Rivers State Police Command over an allegation brought against him by his 12-year-old niece, Karen (not real name), that he had been having carnal knowledge of her since 2013.

Lost: FOOTWORK MUSIC STAR DJ RASHAD DIES IN CHICAGO

Rashad Harden, a house music and footwork pioneer who performed as DJ Rashad, was found dead this weekend of an apparent drug overdose, authorities said Sunday. He was 34.

Chicago Police spokeswoman Janel Sedevic said a friend found Harden's body Saturday afternoon in an apartment on the city's West Side. There was no sign of injury but narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found near his body, she said. An autopsy was conducted Sunday but the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said it is waiting for the results of toxicology tests to determine a cause of death.

Harden's death comes just days before his EP was scheduled for release and less than a month after fellow house music star Frankie Knuckles also died the city.

Harden, a resident of Calumet City, was poised for a breakout year, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. His fifth album received his best reviews, he was scheduled to play clubs all over the world and his latest EP, "We On 1," was scheduled to be released Monday.

Lost: Vice President Sambo’s Brother Dies In Auto Accident

One of Nigeria’s finest pilots, Captain Sabo Sambo, died on Sunday in an auto accident on the airport road in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Captain Sambo, 60, was the younger brother to the Vice President, Namadi Sambo.
He was on his way to catch a flight when his tire punctured. His car was said to have hit a tree and went up in flames.
In his condolence message, President Goodluck Jonathan described the death as a very tragic one, coming at a time the country still needed the services of Captain Sambo.
He prayed that God would grant his soul eternal rest and asked the Vice President, the family, the government and people of Kaduna State to bear the loss with fortitude.
The Vice President was away in Tanzania on an official visit when the news broke that the younger brother had passed on.
The burial had already taken place according to Islamic rites.

Northern governors ask herdsmen to expose killers among themselves

The Northern Governors Forum has urged Fulani associations to expose deviants in their midst and encourage educational pursuit among their wards, to end incessant clashes with farmers. Male Passenger Sexually Assaults Sleeping Woman on British Airways Flight

A man was caught groping a woman’s breast for five minutes, as she slept on a recent British Airways flight from London to San Francisco.
The unidentified woman was taking a nap when Vinay Pochampally, reached over from his seat behind her, and slipped his hand inside her blouse while other passengers watched, Daily Mail reports. He was reportedly intoxicated when he did this.
When the woman woke up and realized what was happening, Pochampally briskly removed his hand and ran down the aircraft aisle.

What is most shocking about this is that although the incident was later reported to flight attendants, none of the passengers attempted to stop the assault as it was happening.

Pochampally has been charged with simple assault.

US groups write Jonathan, seek action against Boko Haram

There are strong indications that members of the Somalia militant sect, Al-Shabab, aided Boko Haram militants in carrying out the attack on Nyanya Motor Park seven days ago.

The PUNCH’s investigations on Sunday also revealed that Al-Shabab, which has strong links with Al-Qaeda, had moved from providing technical assistance to Boko Haram to fighting alongside insurgents in some parts of the North-East.

It was gathered that security agencies received intelligence reports that Al-Shabab, which carried out the West Gate Mall attack in Kenya, was planning an attack in Abuja.

A top   military source, who confided in one of our correspondents, said the information was received two weeks before the March 31, 2014 attempted jailbreak at the Yellow House headquarters of the Department of State Security Service in Abuja.

According to  247ureports.com the Emirate sources say the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, who left the ancient city of Kano months ago to seek medication abroad, is no longer at the hospital in the United Kingdom. The Emir, who returned to the country in October 2013, after spending about four months on medical trip abroad, left the country again onFebruary 27, this year on another similar journey. 
Since Bayero’s departure, information about health condition of the 83-year-old revered monarch has been sketchy.

Policeman Allegedly Caught In Video Assulting 2 Women Arrested

The Lagos state Command has affirmed that it has arrested one of its officers caught on camera harassing and brutalizing women in Lagos. “The officer has been arrested already and we have commenced investigation. He is already in our custody” the spokesperson for the command, Ngozi Braid, a Superintendent of Police (SP) said in a statement released today. Braide disclosed that upon viewing the video, Lagos State Commissioner of Police Mr Umar Manko swiftly set up a team and arrested a Policeman by name Cpl Muhammed Nasir with Force Number 229057 who is believed to have been the one on the alleged video clip, adding that the Officer is currently in Police custody as investigation has commenced and the outcome would be made public.

A 16yrs old Blessing Olokumo has been caged and abandon by her parents in Bayelsa state. regular visitor to the home of Mr Selekeowei Olokumo, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria’s South-South region, would probably have noticed a small make shift building directly opposite his one bedroom apartment which could easily be mistaken for a generator cage. To think it is a place where he stores his old and worn out property would not be out of place, as it was  built with wood and carton on what could be seen as a semi refuse dump site. It was really shocking  when news men visited the scane and realised that the cage was not for keeping  generator or other items but where the 16-year old girl was kept by her parents, Blessing Olokumo, had called home for almost three years in the cage.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday promised that the “evil machinations” of terrorists and their allies were not capable of distracting him from successfully implementing his administration’s transformation agenda. He said he would continue to count on the support and prayers of Nigerians in his government’s bid to achieve peace, harmony, progress and prosperity in the country. Jonathan said these in his Easter message to Nigerians made available to journalists by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.

The President said although his administration had made notable progress in achieving sustained development, he would not rest on his oars.

He said, “My belief in our ability to overcome all retrogressive and divisive forces in our midst and build a strong, united and prosperous nation by turning our unique diversity into a source of strength remains
