The owner of a religious organization, Jubilant Garden Ministries in Uyo, Prophetess Grace Akpan, has been arrested by the State police Command for allegedly operating a baby factory.

It was learnt that Akpan was arrested along with five young ladies and four men around 4am on Friday February 21th 2014 at the alleged baby factory location on High Tension Street, Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo.
According to the Punchreports, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Gwadabe, said on Tuesday that Akpan operated the baby factory under the guise of running a religious organisation, Jubilant Garden Ministries.

Justice M. L. Shuiabu of the Federal High Court in Enugu, on Monday February 24, 2014 has sentenced one Gift Onyegam to ten years imprisonment without an option of fine for duping a blind teacher, Rosemary Ihekanacho of a sum of N830, 000 under the pretext that he would help her son secure employment with an oil company. The convict was also ordered to pay the sum of N711, 000 (seven hundred and eleven thousand naira) in restitution to the victim.
Onyegam, who was arrested in 2013 following complaint by the victim, was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on a 4-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence.

Death Sentence: Wife killer get Death Sentenced by Lagos high court in Ikeja

A Lagos High Court in Ikeja has sentenced to death Mr. Akolade Arowolo for the murder of his banker wife, Titilayo, who he repeatedly stabbed to death with a knife at their residence in Isolo, Lagos, on June 24, 2011. Justice Lateefat Okunnu, in her judgment on Friday, held that even though there was no eyewitness to the incident, the circumstantial evidence adduced by the prosecution proved the murder charge against the convict beyond all reasonable doubts.

“I pronounce the defendant guilty as charged and accordingly sentenced to death,” the court held.

 President Goodluck Jonathan has promise to support Nigerian football supporters with 50 million naira. a relief came the way of cash-strapped Nigeria Football Supporters Club yesterday when President Goodluck Jonathan announced a donation of N50m to the Club at the Presidential Villa.

Decision:Scotland Legalizes Same Sex Marriage

A change in the law that will allow same-sex couples in Scotland to marry has been approved in a "historic" vote at Holyrood. The Scottish Parliament overwhelmingly voted in favour of legislation that will permit gay marriages - with the first such ceremonies now expected to take place before the end of this year. The passing of the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Scotland) Bill, by 105 votes to 18, was hailed by equalities campaigners.

But religious groups who had strongly opposed the change said it had been "steam rollered through" as they declared it was a "sad day for those who believe in and who have fought for traditional marriage".

South Africa’s former president Nelson Mandela has left an estate estimated at $4.1 million to be divided among his family, the ruling African National Congress, former staff and several local schools, a reading of his will revealed on Monday.  The  Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke said that Mandela’s family had accepted the terms of his will earlier on Monday.Mandela’s third wife, Graca Machel, waived her claims to the estate, Moseneke added at a news conference where he summarised parts of Mandela’s 40-page will.

Moseneke said some of the estate would be split between three trusts set up by Mandela, including a family trust designed to provide for his more than 30 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
