Gunmen Attack University of Science and Technology Enugu,3 Students Shot

Three students of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Agbani were, Friday night, shot and wounded by suspected armed bandits who invaded their hostel. The students were undergoing treatment at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu, where they were rushed to in the early hours of yesterday.
The father of one of the students said his son was undergoing surgery at the hospital.
He said the student was shot in the stomach and it was suspected that some bullets were lodged in his abdomen which doctors were battling to remove.

The two other victims were also undergoing surgery at the hospital while efforts were being made to contact their parents.

TB Joshua Denies Allegations That He Performs Fake Miracles

The founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, TB Joshua, has denied allegations that he performs fake miracles the pastor has suffered several criticisms owing to the church’s collapsed building which killed overt 117 people. A South African journalist, Jacques Pauw had alleged that Joshua’s miracles were not genuine. In his report, he had said, “I challenged the pilgrims to provide me with medical proof that they had been healed. None did.”

In a statement released through the church’s official Facebook page, Joshua claimed that all his miracles were performed before the church audience and were broadcast live through the SCOAN’s Emmanuel TV.

“Please note, all of The SCOAN services are public and broadcast live on Emmanuel TV,” the statement read in part. The popular televangelist was reacting to a media report concerning the authenticity of miracles performed by the pastor.

The Australian priest who tried to negotiate the release of the over 200 Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram,says he will in due course name ‘bigger sponsors’ of the sect.

Dr.Stephen Davis who has already named former governor of Borno state, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and former chief of army staff, Gen. President Jonathan, while addressing the Assembly’s annual general debate, said the involvement of foreign fighters has remained a common feature of terrorist groups, whether Al Qaida in the Maghreb, Al Shabaab in Somalia, Boko Haram in Nigeria, or the newly emerging Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

“The new dimension introduced by (ISIL) to conquer territory and establish its destructive ideology, is a major challenge that must be collectively halted before it becomes the norm,” he declared, adding that such actions also refocus attention on the need to review present tools for UN peacekeeping operations.

As for Nigeria, Mr. Jonathan said the violent and criminal activities of Boko Haram have continued to pose a potent challenge to his Government and people. “Through a wave of terror, assassinations, bombings, and now abductions and kidnappings predominantly in the northeast of the country, Boko Haram is attempting to truncate development, by murder and mayhem,” he said, lamenting that in April, “our innocent daughters” were abducted from a Secondary School in Chibok.

American Police Arrest Jonathan Group Fighting over Money

The Law enforcement officers of the New York Police Department reportedly dispersed clashing groups of hired supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan who stormed the venue of a book launch at the Pier Hotel in the Manhattan area.

Several witnesses at the event told Sahara Reporters that a group of homeless men hired from the streets of Newark, New Jersey, clashed with another pro-Jonathan group made up of Nigerians from the New York area. A takeaway worker has been arrested and fired from his job amid claims he was caught rubbing his genitals on a customer's pizza. Police said Austin Michael Symonds, 18, was annoyed that the food had been ordered 30 minutes before closing time so he enacted the disgusting revenge.

50 Boko Haram Suspects Arrested In Biu, Borno

Military operatives in Biu local government area of Borno state have arrested 50 fleeing members of the Boko Haram fighters who were hidden under a truck heading towards Gombe.

security sources told journalists that the arrested men are currently in the custody of the Nigerian Army and might have been detained at the Biu barracks.

He said, some youth vigilante in Biu suspected the truck carrying sheeps and goats at the top and stop the truck for routine check when they discover 50 young men hiding underneath.

The sources revealed that the arrested men confessed to being fighters of the Islamic sect and were all on the run following the reported killing of their leader, Abubakar Shekau, during the confrontation of the sect with the military at Konduga last week.

Ebola: Public and Private Schools In Plateau State To Resume School Monday

Schools to resume after Ebola wahala, Public and private schools in Plateau complied with the Federal Government directive to resume on Monday.

NAN correspondents, who visited some schools in Jos metropolis and its environs as well as in Pankshin in the south of the state, however, observed that the turnout of students was very low.

Some school officials, who spoke with NAN, however said that the low turn was nothing new since it was the usual occurrences in the first days of resumption. Juliet Davou, the Principal of Government Secondary School, Jos, whose school recorded a low turnout, told NAN that the turn-out would not affect the academic activities.

“We shall start classes in earnest; we met with the staff this morning, and directed them to organise their lesson notes and other teaching materials immediately to commence their school calendar,’’ she said.

IS Kidnap French Holiday Maker In Iraq

France's foreign ministry has confirmed that  one of its nationals was abducted on Sunday  just hours after IS warned it would target France because Paris launched air strikes against them in Iraq.

Deputy foreign ministry spokesman Alexandre Georgini said: "A French national was kidnapped on Sunday in Algeria, in the region of Tizi Ouzou, while he was on holiday there.

Mr Georgini initially said nobody had claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, but a video has now emerged showing the kidnapped man, who says he has been taken by an Islamic State splinter group called Caliphate Soldiers of Algeria.
In the footage, the man calls on French President Francois Hollande to halt the country's intervention in Iraq.
The authenticity of the video could not be immediately verified, the French foreign ministry said.
In a statement earlier today, Islamic State spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani urged its followers to attack citizens of the United States, France and other countries which have joined a coalition to destroy the extremist group.

Univarsity student caught with bombs on campus

A student of University of Uyo (UNIUYO) in Akwa Ibom State was coaught with two hand grenades tucked in his bag by the operatives of Peace on Campus Initiatives (PCI). two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), widely speculated as hand grenades, were found in a bag that belonged to the suspect by some students, who alerted the PCI.

National Coordinator of PCI, Mr. Oliver Cromwell, said yesterday that his men in the UNIUYO chapter got information about the suspect keeping the IEDs, and trailed him to his males’ hostel.

Cromwell said his men on discovering the bombs that were well-packaged in a bag in the hostel’s room, apprehended the suspect and invited the anti-bomb squad of the state police command, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, to the scene for verification. The squad detonated the two devices and searched the hostel rooms for more. The suspect who was said to have confessed during interrogation, to keeping the explosives, dismissed that he bought or made them with intent to wreaking havoc on campus. According to him, he

60-yr-old Woman Arrested for Oil Theft in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State police Command have arrested a 60-year-old mother woman, the mother of 15 children for offences bordering on crude oil theft. The suspect, whose name was given as Victoria Sorkibulor, popularly called mama militant, was arrested at Fish Town, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area by a special team
of the corps. She was paraded at the command of the NSCDC in Yenagoa on Monday alongside two of her workers and two other suspects apprehended for pipeline vandalism. Sorkibulor was said to be notorious for pipeline vandalism and illegal refining of petroleum products. It was her workers who led the security operatives to her hideout at Fish Town where she was rounded up and brought to Yenagoa.

The state Commandant, NSCDC, Desmond Agu, said 20 drums of illegally refined kerosene and Automated Gas Oil were confiscated from the suspects.

According to him, Sorkibulor was arrested shortly after her workers were rounded up while evacuating their illegally refined product in a large wooden boat. He added that the boat was burnt at the point of arrest while the products were confiscated for further investigations and prosecution.

The Commandant informed that all the suspects were arrested on Sunday night at different locations in Southern Ijaw area of the state. He gave the names of other suspects as Goodnews Kurai, Babangida James, Daniel Sokebolou and David Ayibadigenmi.

The former Vice-President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has revealed why the Northern part of the country would not vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 general election. Vanguard reports that the presidential aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who spoke at the weekend in Lagos, an interactive session with selected youths stated that PDP had done nothing to attract any vote from the region.
The former vice president also used the medium to reveal that he would support whoever emerged presidential candidate of APC if he did not get the ticket to run. He, however, expressed doubts on the capability of the Independent Electoral Commission of Nigeria, INEC, to conduct a free and fair election in 2015.

“Asking me to not contest is asking me to give up on Nigeria. The North will not vote for the PDP because the party has failed everybody. This period presents an opportunity for change” he said.
