There was war early this morning at Palmgroove and Onipanu bus stops on the popular Ikorodu road, Lagos, as some military men blocked the two sides of the road, smashing the mirrors and windscreens of the state owned Bus Rapid Transit buses in protest of the killing of a fellow military man by a “hit and run” Bus Rapid Transit driver. Eyewitness account revealed to that the late military man was being trailed by the officials of Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA) for plying on the BRT lane. He was allegedly dragged off from his motorbike, hence the fight and was subsequently killed by a moving BRT bus.
Reports also gathered that the scuffle was fierce, leaving the entire vicinities charged, as motorists and pedestrians could not drive or move freely, especially from Jibowu/Yaba end of the axis inward Ojota-Mile 12. So far at least five BRT buses have been set ablaze as the confrontation has resulted in heavy traffic on the long and ever busy road as commuters have been advised to seek alternative routes to get to their destinations.
