Boko Haram: One Million Have Fled Nigeria, 650,000 Displaced – AGF
Min­ister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, confirmed on Tuesday that close to 650,000 Ni­gerians have been internally dis­placed in the North Eastern part of Nigeria since the Boko Haram insurgency began in the region. Adoke also said that there are also one million Nigerians who are now refugees in neighboring countries of Cameroun, Chad and Niger. “This situation has posed grave humanitarian prob­lems in the affected areas, includ­ing the neighboring countries.” The AGF disclosed this in a speech at the high level segment of the 28th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council held in Geneva, Switzerland. He noted with regrets that the situation has caused grave hu­manitarian situations in the af­fected areas. Postponement of Election is a Blackmail -- David Mark Battles Senator

After lot of reactions have trailed the recent poll shift but earlier today, the Senate president, David Mark today has fought it out heavily with Senator Babafemi Ojudu who said he was part of the brains behind the poll shift.
According to Punch report Mark took it upon himself to tackle Ojudu today because Ojudu, who is representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District in the upper chamber had in a media report, allegedly accused Mark of masterminding the shift of the polls. Mark however in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja, described the allegation by Ojodu as“an undignifying mischief least expected of a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Mark, who is a Peoples Democratic Party senator, representing Benue South Senatorial District, made it known in the statement how surprised and disappointed he was when he got wind of the mischievous allegations. He swore that he was never a part to the postponement of the elections making it known that he was not in any meeting in which the poll shift was decided. Accusing Ojodu of sheer deceit and attempting to drag the good name of the Senate into the mud, Mark said:

After the postponement of the 2015 general election, the All Progresives Congress (APC) has said the party’s leadership and members will not be intimidated by the latest antics of the Jonathan Administration to harass and intimidate the opposition, especially in the run-up to next month’s general elections.

In a statement in Lagos, Thursday, by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the recent military siege on APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’ residence and the Imo State Government House and the police harassment of APC’s Presidential Campaign Spokesman Garba Shehu fit perfectly into this emerging pattern.
”As the elections approach, we know the harassment and intimidation will be stepped up. We know our leaders, including the National Chairman Chief John Oyegun, National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gov. Rotimi Amaechi, former Gov. Timipre Sylva, Senator Bukola Saraki and National Publicity Secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed, are under surveillance and their phones being hacked.

Feb. 14 poll: Court urged to stop Jonathan from running

Election is fast approaching! Barely 12 days to the general elections, a suit has been filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja challenging the eligibility of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The plaintiffs, who are Prof. Tunde Samuel, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, Mr. Razak Adeosun and Yahaya Ezemoo, are pleading with the court to restrain Dr. Jonathan from contesting, putting himself forward and or accepting to contest for the office of President, Federal Republic of Nigeria at the 2015 presidential election.
The only defendant in the matter, which is already assigned to Court 7, is the President.

No date has been fixed for the hearing of the application, which was filed by a team of crack lawyers mostly Senior Advocates.

The counsel in the matter are Yusuf Ali (SAN), A. B. Mahmoud(SAN), Adebayo Adelodun(SAN), Sirajo Chedi (SAN), Dr. Tunji Abayomi, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, K.K. Eleja and A.O. Usman.

Obasanjo speaks on the much anticipated Presidential Election

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said Nigeria is being keenly watched by the international community, stressing that the country must not fail as the nation’s general elections begin in a fortnight.

He said this at a public enlightenment programme on electoral process, organized by the Organization of Tadhamunul Muslimeen, OTM, and The Muslim Congress, TMC, Ogun State chapter.
He said, “The elections are crucial and the international community is watching us. We should not disappoint them. We must ensure that the elections are free and fair.

I Will Provide One Million Jobs For Igbo Youths 'Buhari' Promises

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has promised to create one million jobs for Igbo youths by revamping huge coal deposits in Enugu State for generation of electricity and export.

Buhari said this at the Enugu West APC zonal rally on Saturday, where he was represented by the spokesman of the party in the South-East, Osita Okechukwu.

Speaking through Okechukwu, the presidential candidate explained that the coal industry would be revamped with the objective of generating electricity to serve the entire South-East.

He assured the people that he would award the contract immediately he comes into office to avoid the mistakes made by the Peoples Democratic Party, which he said squandered over N2bn voted for a coal project between 2012 and 2014.

Governor Oshiomhole approves 27.5% allowance for teachers

The Governor of Edo State Adams Oshiomhole  has approved the payment of 27.5 percent teachers’ special allowance and implementation of other demands of the Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT) in the state.

Also, the Governor gave his official nod to the payment of the November and December, 2013 salaries of over 322 teachers in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state.

Other approved demands of the NUT which were presented on their behalf by the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) include payment of 10 percent salary relativity increase and the consequential 27.5 percent TSA therefrom as well as payment of financial benefits of the last set of promotions approved for primary school teachers.

President Goodluck Jonathan and Senate President David Mark said yesterday the Federal Government will not allow any rigging from any political party in next month’s general elections. This is even as they said the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not be rigged out.

Speaking at the presidential campaign rally in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, President Jonathan said his administration is committed to free, fair and transparent 2015 general polls.

Buhari is not a Muslim as far as we are concerned - Boko Haram Leader

The controversial leader of the Boko Haram terror group Abubakar Shekau on Tuesday declared the duo of President Goodluck Jonathan and his 2015 arch-rival, Muhammadu Buhari as infidels who cannot rule Nigeria. he declared that the war he is waging would soon bring democracy to an end.

Shekau, who spoke in a 36 minute video released via Youtube, also warned that more killings and attacks would be recorded in the days to come as he boasted that the quantum of ammunition his group has so far seized from the Nigerian army especially in Baga would be enough to prosecute a war against Nigeria.

The man whom Nigeria military authority had declared dead on three occasions in the last two years said his group would soon bring Nigeria to its knees and warned the governments of the neighbouring countries, comprising of Chad, Cameroon and Niger of similar attacks.

President Jonathan Campaigns In Half-Empty Stadium In Sokoto

President Goodluck Jonathan and his presidential campaign team arrived in Sokoto today in continuation of his nationwide campaign tour, and were confronted by a half-empty stadium. Our reporter said the event, at the Shehu Kangiwa Square, was scantily-attended, with only a few to cheer him despite the hopes of his campaign he would be warmly-received.

Former PDP Chiarman Donates N5billion to Buhari's Campaign

 
News Agency of Nigeria has confirmed that the Former PDP National Chairman,Audu Ogbewill on January 4th, inaugurate the sale of five million tubers of yam donated by farmers to raise N5 billion for the Buhari/Osinbajo presidential campaign.
Felicia Yakzum, Public Relations Officer of APC Micro Finance Cooperative Society Ltd, said in a statement on Thursday in Jos that the sales would commence at Mararaban Demshin in Qua'an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau.She said that APC had organised a New Year wrestling tournament and the "Job Opportunities for Osinbajo and Buhari Supporters (JOOBS)" would also be inaugurated.
Yakzum said Ogbe was behind the yam initiative and has been appointed chairman for the sales.

Why Jonathan didnt visit Chibok -Tanko Yakasai

The Chieftain of the PDP, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai has explained why pres. GoodLuck Jonathan did not visit  Chibok, in his own suggestion he thinks that it will be too risky for the president to visit Chibok as there were high level of insecurity.

“Why I think the president’s decision not to visit the area is not bad is because we were all aware of the deteriorating level of insecurity in that part of the country.
