According to the police, the two teenagers attempted to rob students from the University of Virginia at gunpoint on Tuesday night, but the students fought back.
Then the thieves were severely beaten by their victims. The injuries were so severe that they were taken to a hospital for observation.
As you can see from the photos, 19-year-old Johnny Calderon Jr., and 18-year-old Gerald Allen, suffered serious injuries in the face from the beating. Police said the suspects had to be transported to the hospital before being taken to jail.
The police also said that the students were unharmed when the thieves tried to rob them at gunpoint. The student managed to overpower the suspects. They beat the robbers and held them down until police arrived.
The 18-year-old was unable to open one of his eyes for his police photo because it was swollen.
Calderon faces charges of attempted robbery, pointing a firearm and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Allen faces charges of attempted robbery, police said.
Charlottesville Police spokesperson Ronnie Roberts said that at this point none of the students will face charges because their actions were done in self-defense.
Although police also said that they do not encourage people to take matters into their own hands.
