Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Kingsley Moghalu, has blamed the country’s challenges on an ailing education sector.
The CBN (Financial System Stability) deputy governor said this in a lecture he delivered on Saturday, at the golden jubilee ceremony of the first graduates of the UNN.The lecture was entitled “The Human Capital Dimension of Economic Transformation.”
While delivering the lecture, Moghalu observed that despite all endowments, both in the area of population and natural resources, Nigeria’s economic performance has been rather weak and does not reflect the country’s endowments.
He said, “About 50-70 percent of the population live below the international poverty level of $1.25 in income.
