How Obiano’s men tackled last minute rumour of his disqualification

Mr. Willie Obiano

Rumours spread like wildfire on Friday that the candidate of the All progressives Grand Alliance, Mr. Willie Obiano, had been disqualified by the Independent National Electoral Commission from contesting the election for alleged double registration. But the Willie Obiano Campaign Organisation swung into action Friday night with text messages, social media quotes and phone calls to reassure their supporters that the man had not been disqualified.

The Head of Media and Communication of the organisation, Mr. James Eze, issued a late night press statement debunking the rumours.
The release said, “Our attention has been drawn to the spurious and malicious rumour making the round, claiming that Mr. Willie Obiano, APGA’s gubernatorial candidate in tomorrow’s governorship election in Anambra State has been disqualified.
“This is a cruel lie, fabricated in the pits of hell by a scared opposition, notorious for visiting dark hovels for blood covenants in search of power.
“We are familiar with their antics and the regime of fear they seek to foist on the people of Anambra State. But their dark designs have failed because there is no army on earth that is strong enough to thwart the will of the people.
“We urge you to disregard this lie because no matter how well told, a lie is still a lie. Mr. Willie Obiano is still very much in the race. At the same time, we implore all lovers of a free and better society as well as all supporters of Chief Willie Obiano to refrain from any acts that might constitute a breach of the peace.”
Similarly, there was another campaign on the social media alleging that the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukaogu, would disqualify the All Progressives Congress candidate, Dr. Chris Ngige, for allegedly allowing his supporters to spread the propaganda of Obiano’s disqualification.
But  they all turned out to be mere propaganda dished out by opponents in the election.
