Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate
A magistrate of the Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court has ordered that 40-year-old Imeh Okon be remanded in prison for the death of one Ismaila Saka.
The police said the defendant had confessed to killing Saka by stabbing him with a broken bottle on the neck during a fight. The incident was said to have happened at the Agege area of Lagos State.
The investigating police officer, Sergent Akinmuyiwa Micaiah, said the defendant was arrested with exhibits and was identified by witnesses at the scene of the crime.
The one count murder charge read, “That you, Imeh Okon, on October 16, 2013 at 8.30am at 31, Adeniyi Street, along Oniwaya Junction, Agege Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Ismaila Saka, age unknown, by stabbing him with a broken Schnapp bottle on his neck severally and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”The defendant’s plea was not taken.
The magistrate, Mr. R. J Adefioye, remanded him in prison. The matter was adjourned till December 4 for DPP’s advice.
