Nigeria’s currency plunged to record lows Friday, despite central bank measures, on concerns about the fall in oil prices. Nigeria’s central bank intervened to support its currency on Friday after a record-breaking slide. traders said the central bank stepped in after the dollar shot up to over 172 against the naira, marking an all-time low for the Nigerian currency driven by concerns that the crumbling oil price will hit Africa’s biggest economy hard. The naira recovered to around 167 against the buck. A central bank spokesman didn’t respond to calls and text messages seeking comment.

Analysts say the naira isn't out of trouble yet, and warn of a self-reinforcing slide in the currency ahead.

“The central bank may face political pressure not to raise rates ahead of February’s general election,” Capital Economics analyst Jack Allen wrote in a note to clients. “But we think that the threat of a currency crisis is likely to trump these concerns.”

I’ve killed 60 people - Confession of a Serial Killer

33yr old cultist, Alawunmi Oluwafemi claims to have killed more than 60 people as the immortal assassin of the Aye Fraternity. He was arrested by operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Ogun State police command after a gun battle with the police.
Now in police custody, Oluwafemi told The Sun the story of his life as an axe man in the underworld and how he killed more than 60 men and women.

The hunt
Saturday Sun gathered that the inability to arrest the suspect led to the transfer of several police area commanders out of Ijebu Ode.
Disturbed by his exploits, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye directed the SARS team to relocate to Ijebu-Ode and fish Oluwafemi out at all costs. As a result, the team led by SP Mohammed Tijiani eventually succeeded in tracking down ‘the big fish’ on October 6 during the Ojude Oba festival.

Catholic Bishops Scrap Landmark Welcome to Gays in Sign of Split

pope-francis-101814.jpg
Catholic gay rights groups have reacted with disappointment to bishops scrapping their landmark welcome to gays this weekend, a move that showed deep divisions at the end of a two-week meeting sought by Pope Francis to chart a more merciful approach to ministering to Catholic families.

The bishops failed to approve even a watered-down section on ministering to homosexuals that stripped away the welcoming tone of acceptance contained in a draft document earlier in the week.

Rather than considering gays as individuals who had gifts to offer the church, the revised paragraph referred to homosexuality as one of the problems Catholic families have to confront. It said "people with homosexual tendencies must be welcomed with respect and delicacy," but repeated church teaching that marriage is only between man and woman. The paragraph failed to reach the two-thirds majority needed to pass.

The Boston-based DignityUSA organization said in a statement late Saturday: "Unfortunately, today,
