17-Year Old Boy Beaten To Death By Environmental Officials

  A 17-year-old Chidiebere Edeh  has died after being beaten up with sticks by men of the Enugu State Waste Management Agency. before his death, the boy, Chidiebere Edeh, lived with his parents at 20 Ifenze Street in the Abakpa area of the state and was sitting for the ongoing Senior School Certificate Examination.

Punch Metr gathered that he died at about 3pm on Monday, nine hours after being beaten up by five ESWAMA agents and a police officer. It was gathered that a scuffle between ESWAMA agents and Chidiebere ensued minutes after the deceased allegedly disposed of a bag of rubbish at one of the approved dumpsites.

14-Year Old Bride Poisons Husband, 3 Others Over Force Marrage

 A teenage bride, Wasila Umaru, has allegedly killed her 35-year-old husband, Umaru Sani, and three others in Ungwar Maisoro, Gaya Local Government Area of Kano State, with a rat poison which she administered on the food she served the victim and 14 of his friends.
Spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, ASP Musa Magaji Majiya, who revealed this at a press conference yesterday, said 14-year-old Wasila reportedly bought the rodent pesticide known in local parlance as Shinkafa Bera, at a village market for N8.
The unsuspecting husband and three of his friends were said to have eaten the poisonous food and gave up the ghost in the process.

The state police command has raided a fake recruiting organisation, in the Mushin area of Lagos state. 
The agency claimed to have the mandate to recruit marketers for companies, through text messages, but strangely all the recipients of the messages said that they did not apply for the jobs in the first place.
 The Police, acting on a tip-off raided the premises where the said group conducts its recruitment business, and in the building job interviews and oral assessments had been planned to take place. 
The message indicates NEMA, the National Emergency Management Agency may be recruiting, but when asked their officials in Lagos, they told us they knew nothing about it.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has restrained the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services from arresting or harrassing the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido.
The court also ordered the DSS to release Mr. Sanusi’s passport to him immediately while also awarding the embattled CBN boss N50 million in exemplary damages. Mr. Sanusi’s passport was seized on February 20, as he arrived the Lagos international airport, hours after he was suspended as CBN Governor by President Goodluck Jonathan. He was briefly detained as well. Mr. Sanusi, in separate suits, had challenged his suspension, and asked for enforcement of his fundamental rights as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.

544 Nigerians Living In Switzerland "Voluntarily" Return From Switzerland To Nigeria

 The Swiss Federal Office of Migration (FOM) says a total of 544 Nigerian nationals previously living in Switzerland returned home in 2013 under its Voluntary Return and Reintegration Programme (VRRP).
This is contained in a statement issued by the FOM at the end the 5th Meeting of the Technical Committee for the Swiss-Nigerian migration partnership on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to the statement, Nigeria is the third main country of origin for asylum seekers in Switzerland in 2013 with 1,764 asylum applications.

Japheth Omojuwa &Uche Briggs arrested for leading protest over NIS tragedy

 

Public speaker, blogger and activist Japheth Omojuwa was arrested this afternoon in Abuja alongside Uche Briggs for leading a protest over victims of the Nigerian Immigration Service employment test that took place on March 10th. The two men and one other person were taken to NSCDC office and there are reports that they were beaten by NSCDC officers at their headquarters. Oil Spill Destroy Farmlands In Edo Community

 
Thousands acres of farmlands in Ogugu community, near Okpella, in Etsako East local government area of Edo have been destroyed by an oil spill in the area.
The spill had also polluted the only river in the area which is the source of water to the residents.
The spill, which was discovered by the residents of the community, was caused by  a ruptured   pipeline which passes Warri through Ogugu community.
A palace chief in Ogugu , Alaye Yusuf,  said that the community had lost millions of naira to the  oil spill.
Yusuf said  that  if  the ruptured pipeline was not urgently repaired it  could cause more damage to the farmlands and the entire community.

The discovery of the “house of horror” in Ibadan, the Oyo capital, was made even more horrifying because of the state the survivors were found in. The barely alive victims were malnourished and skeletal as one of them stated that they were fed only once a week. Cecilia Obaikhena is one of such and she left many visitors to the gory scene spellbound at her tale.
