Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Confirm That No money is missing from Police Pension Fund

 The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Wednesday has confirmed that no money was missing from the Police Pension Fund that media reports are false. this is contained in a statement issued by Mr Paul Nwabuikwu, her Special Adviser on Media, in Abuja.It said reports that N24 billion was missing from the fund were false.

“Contrary to media reports, the sum of N24 billion is not missing from the Police Pension Fund,’’ the statement stated.
It stated that Okonjo-Iweala had told the Senate Joint Committee on Pensions Administration at a public hearing that she ordered the account frozen to prevent fraud.

‘Thank you to everyone who wished Meraiah a happy birthday. However, going to a 14 year old’s ‘private’ online accts to post her pictures for public viewing is totally inappropriate. Her father and I are horrified as parents and guardian that a minor’s picture can be paraded online as ‘hot’ ,’sexy’ etc.’, she wrote on her official Facebook page.

Boko Haram Terrorists Beg Soldiers To Spare Their Lives

The Defence Headquarters yesterday said scores of wounded terrorists captured by soldiers in the ongoing military operations against insurgency in the north east have been pleading with soldiers to spare their lives.
 According to the Director, Defence Information(DDI), Major-General Chris Olukolade, The terrorists were captured from their various camps in the fringes of Lake Chad by the Multi-National Joint Task Force and  other locations around Dikwa, Cross Kauwa, Kukawa and Alargarmo.
He said, the captured terrorists, some of whom are fatally wounded, were already making useful statements regarding the locations of their remnant forces and that “they are full of apologies and pleas for their lives to be spared promising to cooperate”.

Amaechi Tells Goodluck Jonathan To Release Rivers State's Money Now

The Rivers State Governor and Chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has said that the state is expecting the Federal Government to release its full monthly allocations.
Amaechi, who lamented that the state was losing revenue because some of its oil wells were transferred to neighbouring states, pointed out that the financial situation across the state was gloomy.
The governor spoke on Tuesday while inspecting ongoing work on Elioparanwo and Ogbogoro Roads in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
He decried the dwindling Federal Government allocations to the state and attributed the decrease in monthly allocations across the country to corruption in the oil sector.

Goodluck Jonathan says governors that keep attacking and abusing him are not helping their states

President Goodluck Jonathan has told state governors who cast aspersion on him and the Federal Government that such action will not help the development of their states.

He said on Tuesday that the best thing for state governors to do was to take their cue from Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State by ensuring cordial relationship with him and the Federal Government.
Jonathan gave the advice while receiving a delegation of Anambra State indigenes who were at the Presidential Villa, Abuja to thank him for the support he gave to Obi, the outgoing governor of the state. Obi will hand over to the governor-elect, Chief Willie Obiano, on March 17.

Blogger Jailed For Criticizing Government Policies

Popular Vietnamese blogger and journalist Truong Duy Nhat has been jailed for two years on Tuesday for posting articles critical of the Communist government and leaders, his lawyer said.
Nhat was found guilty of "abusing democratic freedoms to infringe on the interests of the state" at a half-day trial in his native city of Danang on the central coast.
The broad anti-state charges can carry a maximum of seven years in jail.
"He strongly denied the charge, claiming that he is innocent," said lawyer Tran Vu Hai. The US said it was "deeply concerned" by the sentence.

Two days after a brutal Boko Haram attack on a northern Nigerian school, French President François Hollande arrived in the Nigerian capital of Abuja Thursday for a visit dominated by security and economic issues. The owner of a religious organization, Jubilant Garden Ministries in Uyo, Prophetess Grace Akpan, has been arrested by the State police Command for allegedly operating a baby factory.

It was learnt that Akpan was arrested along with five young ladies and four men around 4am on Friday February 21th 2014 at the alleged baby factory location on High Tension Street, Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo.
