20 die in Sabon Gari, Kano bomb blasts

         No fewer than 20 persons were believed to have been killed in Sabon Gari area of Kano

   As security agents intensify search for Shekau, his members continue to launch attacks
A loud explosion was heard tonight along the Hausa/Igbo Road in the Sabon Gari area of Kano, triggering fears that the city might have come under attack from the extremist Boko Haram sect.
Details of the incident, said to have occurred at 9:30 PM, are still sketchy, although some residents suggest casualties are likely.
The explosion, which took people unawares, caused serious stampede of vehicles around the area which resulted in multiple accidents on many roads closed to the scene of the blast.
The Kano state Police Command confirmed the incident, but declined to provide details.
“We heard a loud bang around the Sabongari area but we can only confirm details later,” spokesperson of the command, Musa Majiya told AV-News via Premium Times . “We have since deployed our operatives and bomb disposal experts to the scene.”

A Chinese national was killed and 10 others were feared kidnapped after an overnight attack in northern Cameroon believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram militants from Nigeria, officials said on Saturday.

"Boko Haram Islamists attacked a camp (of road workers). A Chinese was killed. Ten Chinese cannot be found since the attack. We think they have probably been kidnapped," a local police chief said on condition of anonymity.

Eight Boko Haram terrorists who came out to get food and items from Goym village in Dikwa local government, Borno state were arrested by visiting Civilian Joint Task Force men who came from Gwoza. The terrorists who came in a hilux truck with some motorcycles were arrested at 4pm Friday evening.
Upon interrogation, the terrorists revealed that the 234 girls abducted from Chibok were still in Sambisa forest and that they had been divided into three groups. They describe the camps in Sambisa as very large. They said they were sent by their leader to get items including clothes for the girls.
The civilians hoped military support will be sent to Dikwa immediately as it is likely the terrorists return when they find their men were arrested. They also hope “the Americans” will act on this intelligence to rescue the abducted girls.

The Primary School Iyange is a wooden built structure, and both students and educators say it is a building in a deplorable state. The iron roofing sheet overhead leaks. The Pupils are being taught in an environment that is not conducive to learning, observers say. They battle with the intense heat of the Sun, are disturbed by high winds on windy days, and are showered on in rain storms, anytime there is a torrential downpour.
As a result of the heat generated by the Sun, the pupils often groan to their teachers about “discomfort,” as they try to learn the subjects offered. There are many broken chairs and benches used in the school, also a constant complaint of the students.

President Goodluck Jonathan cancels Chibok visit!

President Goodluck Jonathan has called off a visit to the town where more than 200 schoolgirls were abducted, officials say. Sources had told the BBC he would stop in Chibok, in the north-east, on his way to a conference in France on the threat from Boko Haram militants. But the visit was called off for security reasons, the officials said.
The president – under pressure over his government’s failure to rescue the girls – will fly direct to Paris.
The BBC’s Gabriel Gatehouse in Nigeria says the cancellation of this visit underlines just how fragile the security situation is in the north-east.

More than Hundreds of women in Lagos stormed the Lagos State Governor’s Office on Tuesday protesting over the abduction of 234 school girls in Chibok, Borno State, North eastern Nigeria.

The All Progressives Congress, (APC), protesters were led by the wife of APC National leader, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and APC Women leader in Lagos, Chief Kemi Nelson. Boko Haram: we’ll attack Abuja, Refineries - Abubakar Shekau Tells Nigerians

Boko Haram leader Imam Abubakar Shekau has made another video appearance, daring the United States and others.  He said none of the world powers could locate his whereabouts, no matter how hard they try. Besides, Shekau vowed that the sect would attack Abuja – the seat of the government and the refineries – the symbol of Nigeria’s economic power.

The monarch, however, lamented it was so sad that the government was yet to address the issue of security challenges in the nation.
