Tragedy: Truck kills Newly Wed couple & four others in Ondo

Tragedy struck in Oka Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State as a newly wed couple and four other persons were killed by a truck heading to abuja.  it was gathered that the truck rammed into the residence of the couple located close to Oka hill while they were asleep.

A resident of the area, who identified himself as Gidado, said the accident occurred in the early hours of the day when most of the residents of the area were still on their beds. It was gathered that the truck, which was heading to­wards Abuja, belonged to a famous manufacturing com­pany. Aside the couple that died in the accident, four other persons who were also hit by the truck were later confirmed dead and were teken to morgue.

According to Gidado, the four other persons were re­turning from a prayer session when they were hit.


It was gathered that ve­hicular accidents have been rampant on that road in recent times due to heavy presence of trucks on the road.

Most of the trucks that passed through the road were said to be those of manufactur­ing companies moving from Lagos to Abuja.

Checks also revealed that some of the vehicles were of­ten parked on the road, thereby hindering free flow of traffic.

another Sources stated that the re­mains of the couple whose names could not be identified  as at press time and oth­er victims have been depos­ited at a government hospital morgue in the area.

However, efforts to speak with officials of the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) on the accident failed. the residents of the area are calling on the government to intervane in the matter as several accident have occour in that same road.
