There are strong indication that the Speaker Plateau State House of assembly H John Clark Dabwan may be removed from office on Tuesday next when the House resumes sitting.
there gathered on Friday in Jos that some of the state law makers have been nursing grudges against the
speaker over what they called poor representation of their interest before the executive arm of government and wanted a change in the leadership.
The plot gathered late Friday evening had the backing of the principal officers of the House and have planed to replace the speaker with Hon. Titus Alams from Bokkos constituency.
Those wishing the speaker out gathered had already appended their signatures and have directed him to resign in order to give him his soft landing.
A source who did not want his name on print told Saturday Independent that the embattled speaker when told the position of his colleagues was jittery and pleaded with his colleagues to soft pedal.
As at the time of filling this report Friday evening, a meeting was said to be going on a Government Lodge Jishe in Jos where the party leaders led by its Chairman and Governor Jang and his Deputy were in attendance with aim of intervening in the matter to save the situation.
When contacted the press secretary to the speaker Mrs Chingle claimed ignorance of the development, but said the speaker is still in charge of the affairs of the state House of Assembly and in good relationship with his colleagues.
“The Plateau State House of Assembly will be sitting on Tuesday next week, you can come to cover the proceeding from there you will know if the speaker will be impeach or not.” she said.
Effort to reach the House Committee Chairman on Information Hon. Diket Plang to comment on the development failed as his mobile phone number was switch off as at the time of filling this report.
