Boko haram has killed atleast 22 people at a busy church service in a northeast Nigerian village, eye witnesses said on Monday, in a region where Islamist sect Boko Haram is resisting a military crackdown.

Jamaica's Reggae Boyz Will Play France By June

Up-dates on Football- Jamaica's Reggae Boyz to play France in June as the build-up continues to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil this summer.
The Caribbean outfit, who failed to qualify for football's biggest showpiece will take on the former World Cup winners on June 8 at the Stade Pierre Maury in Lille.
The clash will be the third and final warm-up fixture for Les Bleus who are due to play Norway and and Paraguay as well. At the World Cup, France will play in Group E and face Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras.

Meanwhile, the Reggae Boyz, who failed to win a game and ended last in the CONCACAF World Cup final stage last year, will look to rebuild the national senior team and brand Reggae Boyz.
"This game will be extremely important in the federation's effort to rebuild the national senior team, and is part of my stated commitment to Jamaica's football programme," Captain Horace Burrell, president of the Jamaica Football Federation, stated via an e-mail release.
"The game happened after negotiations and France chose to play Jamaica. This match would enhance brand Reggae Boyz," Burrell told The Gleaner.
"One of the requirements is for us to field our strongest team, and we will do everything possible for that to happen," the JFF president disclosed.

A 50-year-old Houston father pleaded guilty Wednesday to capital murder in the deaths of his three children in exchange for life without parole.
Mohammad Goher admitted to shooting his son Saeed, 12, and daughters Saeedah, 14, and Aisha, 7, as they slept in his apartment on Sept. 19, 2010, according to court records.
Investigators said Goher and his wife were going through a bitter divorce and custody battle when he killed the children and turned the gun on himself, but survived a gunshot wound to the head.

United States Declares 16 States In Nigeria Unsafe For Travel

The United States has revised its travel alert on Nigeria, warning its citizens against travelling to 16 states in the country. The latest alert, includes the three north eastern states that have been under emergency rule after a presidential declaration on May 14, 2013.
Released on January 8 by the State Department, the US appealed to its citizens to avoid all, but essential travels to Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Gombe and Jigawa states.The other states on the list, which the alert said are prone to kidnappings, robberies and other armed attacks are Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Yobe, and Zamfara.

Abia, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Imo and Rivers states, which were in an earlier list issued in June, 2013 are not on the latest travel list.
The world power described the security situation in Nigeria as “fluid and unpredictable,’’ and also warned against travel to the Gulf of Guinea because of the threat of piracy.
The country urged its citizens to be particularly vigilant around “government security facilities, places of worship and locations where large crowds may gather’’.

“Security measures in Nigeria remain heightened due to threats posed by extremist groups.
“Boko Haram, an extremist group based in northeast Nigeria designated as a Foreign Terrorist organisation by the Department of State, has claimed responsibility for many attacks, mainly in northern Nigeria,’’ the statement read.

According to the State Department, the Ansaru group, an offshoot of Boko Haram, has carried out several kidnappings, targeting foreigners in Nigeria.

It noted that the group also claimed responsibility of other violent acts in the past years

According to the National Parks department, the crabs’ breeding is fixed around the phases of the moon and occurs during the wet season in Australia. To help the crabs during the migration and reduce the number of crabs accidentally killed, locals close off roads. Because, believe us, there are a LOT of crabs.

There are “crab crossings” placed all around the island, and the humans that live amongst the crabs do their best to protect them. There are even tunnels constructed to help with the crab migration.

Shocking:Teenager commits suicide in Ondo

A 13 year old boy and primary five pupil, Awal Osisi has committed suicide in Akure, the Ondo state capital. But the police in the state is working at some puzzles surrounding the alleged death of the boy just as his step mother is being detained.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that the boy committed suicide in his parents’ house located at High School area of Akure. Awal was allegedly found in his parents’ room hanging by the door on Wednesday by using a belt to hang himself. His step mother Mrs Rukayat Osisi reportedly raised alarm at about 10.00am when she discovered the dangling body of the boy in the room.

Rukayat a petty trader. claimed that she found the body of Awal in the room having committed suicide.
However, the police in the state is suspecting foul play, wondering why the step mother brought down the alleged dangling body of the boy before informing the police.
The woman was said to have gone to the ‘A’ Division at about 1.35 pm to report that her step-son was found dead in the room after killing himself.
Rukayat said she discovered the body of the boy in the room after he hanged himself with a belt tied to the handle of the door. She said she had to remove the corpse of the deceased and take it to the State specialist hospital in Akure before reporting the incident at the police station.
However, reports gathered from the community showed that Awal has always been a victim of victimisation, oppression and child abuse by his father and the step- mother since his mother divorced the father some years ago.

Saturday Vanguard learnt that the step-mother together with the father has always been maltreating the boy and sending him on difficult errands.
It was learnt that the father works outside Akure and comes to Akure every weekend.
The father, it was gathered seized the boy’s school uniform and books following a report from the wife that the deceased misbehaved while the father was away in his station.

Suspect Mother Cry Out Over alleged murder case involving controversial Lagos pastor, Sign Fireman

There is a new twist in the case of the controversial Lagos pastor Sign Fireman who was arrested by Lagos police over the alleged ritual murder of a 12 year old girl, Bose Ogoja, after the girl's killer, 18 year old Ikechukwu claimed he killed her following instructions from Pastor Sign Fireman. The boy's mother has spoken out and says her son has never met the founder and Head Pastor of Perfect Christian Mission.

Mrs Esther Egbo told reporters yesterday that they were members of the Badagry branch of Fireman's church and in the two years they've been in the church, they have never set eyes on the man. She said her son had been arrested four different times by the police for attempted rape and had even been charged to court and was only released on December 10, 2013.

Mrs Egbo said:
"My son has been under a spell since 2009 when he was cursed by one of my neighbours in Badagry. Sometimes, he suddenly sees young girls, grabs them and starts trying to molest them. He only behaves like that in the afternoon and the whole neighborhood knows. In 2011, he was arrested after touching a 15-year-old girl inappropriately. Later, he was arrested for attempting to rape a 17-year-old girl. Most times, it is residents that call to tell me that my son has been detained at the Badagry Police Station when I am looking for him.
“In November, he did it again and was arraigned before a Badagry Magistrates Court for attempted rape and remanded in Badagry Prison for 19 days. He was released on December 10 after he was acquitted. It was three weeks later that he killed the little girl.
I asked him what happened that day and he said he was eating at one woman's shop and saw the woman's daughter pass. He stood up and followed the girl and dragged her into an uncompleted building where he killed her. He was caught as he attempted to run. He said something came over him.
“We even started a deliverance programme for him at the church and he never even met Pastor Fireman. After his interview with journalists, I asked my son why he lied against the pastor and he said it was because he was threatened .”
The killer's mother said although they attended Fireman’s church, they never met with him because as the General Overseer of the church, it was not always easy for members to see him at random.
She said her son did not even have Fireman’s telephone number and wondered where the supposed meeting he had with her son took place.
An aide to the pastor described the allegations against Fireman as ridiculous, adding that Fireman could not have stooped so low as to encourage a teenager to commit murder.
“I have spoken to the boy (Ikechukwu) and he told me that he was coerced into saying what he said to the press. Pastor Fireman is a very rich man. What sort of money ritual would he want to do? His father owns a gold factory in Russia while his mother is a professor at ABSU. This is a man that has distinguished himself.
Ikechukwu killed Bose in the Badagry area of Lagos State. When he was paraded before journalists at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, he said he killed the girl in an uncompleted building following instructions from pastor Sign Fireman.
Ikechukwu said,
“I attend Perfect Christian Mission Headquarters around Ketu Street, Aguda, but I live with my parents in Badagry. I just finished secondary school and I have been very broke. So, I approached the pastor, Sign Fireman, for money, but he told me that I should strangulate a little girl. He explained that while strangulating the girl, she would pass out faeces in the throes of death. The pastor said I should obtain the faeces and bring it to him. He said if I could do this, he would give me N100, 000.”
The suspect’s mother says the boy later confessed to her that nothing of such happened and that the 12 year old only passed feces due to the rape and strangulation. She said the incident had nothing to do with ritual but a case of rape that led to murder.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that many church members had elected to give the pastor free legal service.
Fireman’s lawyer, Peter Oboyi, said the police had no evidence against the pastor adding that his client’s home had even been searched on Wednesday and no evidence was found.
He said,
“Pastor Fireman has over 100,000 members worldwide and does not even know one tenth of them let alone a small boy in the Badagry branch of the church. The boy has even confessed to the police that it wasn’t the pastor that sent him to the dastardly act. The allegations are frivolous and based on hearsay. If you want to send someone to kill another person, you will send someone that you trust, someone that wouldn’t give your name up easily. How could pastor have done such?”

Again, Another petrol tanker crashes in Lagos

Another tanker laden with 33,000 litres of petrol fell in the Iju area of Lagos State on Thursday, spilling some of its contents on the road.

The incident came barely 24 hours after a petrol tanker crashed into passenger buses in the Kirikiri area of the state, killing at least 15 people.
It waslearnt that the truck, belonging to Conoil, with number plate, XB467AKN, also hit an electric pole along Ajuwon Road. It was learnt that no life was lost in the incident.
Fire fighters from Agege Fire Station, as well as technical staff of Power Holding Company of Nigeria and policemen prevented vehicles from plying the road while the incident lasted. Around 8am, the remaining fuel
in the vehicle was transferred into another tanker.
The Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Razaq Fadipe, told our correspondent that the tanker fell around 2.21am.
He said, “Around 2.21am, another fuel tanker laden with 33,000 litres of petrol fell close to the entrance of Grain Movement premises. There was heavy spillage of fuel, but we were able to prevent a fire.”
Meanwhile, many escaped death after a room on the premises of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Staff Hospital, Onike, Yaba, was gutted by fire.
An employee at the hospital, who declined to identify himself, revealed that only equipment were destroyed in the fire.
He said, “Around 10am, we saw fire from the secretary’s office on the first floor. So we evacuated all the patients, while other employees ran outside. There was no one in the affected office when the fire started, so there were no casualties.”
Fadipe explained that the fire started after an employee turned off the generator and switched over to public power supply.
Fadipe said the fire spread to the medical director’s office, but the timely intervention of his agency prevented the entire building from being gutted by the inferno.
“The fire was said to have emanated from a stabiliser in the secretary office after they switched back to electricity. It then spread to the medical director’s office, but we were able to contain it,” Fadipe said.
In a related development, relatives of victims of the tanker explosion which occurred at Suya Bus Stop, Kirikiri, Lagos came looking for the bodies of their loved ones at Gbagada General Hospital on Thursday.
Some of the relatives, who had yet to find the bodies of their loved ones, told newsmen that they had gone to some mortuaries in the state, including the one at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
One of them said his brother, who was coming to pay him a visit in his shop on Tuesday, was one of the passengers of the commercial bus that was behind the tanker that exploded.
He said, “I was on the telephone with him, and he told me he was almost at Berger Bus Stop, as we were speaking, I heard a loud bang. I have been trying to locate which hospital they took him to.”
Other victims’ relatives told our correspondent that they had yet to identify their members, as most of the remains were burnt beyond recognition.
One of them said, “ I do not even know if my sister’s body is here or not. What we know is that we cannot identify them, I have been to LASUTH, and they told us to come here. We are also checking some general hospitals to see if I can identify her.”
However, a source at the hospital told one of our correspondents that many of the injured victims brought to the hospital were referred to other hospitals due to lack of bed spaces.
The doctor at the burns unit of the hospital said those that were admitted were in critical conditions.
He said since most of the bodies of the victims were charred, the management of the mortuaries where the corpses were taken to might need to conduct further identification procedures.
“We are not sure if a DNA examination will be needed to identify those that suffered 100 per cent burns. But I will advise relations to visit mortuaries around the state where they would be asked to complete some identification forms and also fill the necessary requirements need to claim the bodies,” he said.
Also, it was learnt that the state government had started an assessment test on the buildings that were affected by the Wednesday’s inferno.
Officials told our correspondent that the most affected building, Sterling Bank, located at Berger Suya Bus Stop, might be demolished along with other shops depending on the outcome of the test.
The President, Berger Business Community, Mr. Okey Udeagba, said the state government had ordered all the traders to evacuate.
He said, “But we cannot sit back at home and do nothing, so we worked partially today and we will continue to work. However, the Lagos State Government issued a circular instructing everybody to evacuate.

Controversial Pastor Ofuche Ukoha Arrested over Alleged Ritual Murder

Controversial Lagos miracle pastor Pastor Ofuche Ukoha, popularly known as Dr. Sign Fireman, has been arrested by Lagos police over alleged ritual murder of a 12 year old girl.
The disclosure of Pastor Fireman's involvement in the scandal was made by an eighteen year old boy paraded by the police in Lagos. The teenage suspect stated during the parade that he was sent on the ritual mission by Pastor Fireman.
He said he had always dreamt of becoming rich and had approached the pastor personally, after years of attending the church without his own financial miracle happening, Mr. Fireman reportedly told him the way to
get his Sign for finance was to get the feces of a virgin girl. The suspect said Pastor Fireman promised him a reward of N100,000 for the assignment.
The suspect narrated how he sought and killed the 12 year old girl simply named "Bose", the daughter of poor lady on his street.
She also said the outcome of the investigation would soon be made public.Confirming the incident to a Lagos correspondent this morning, Lagos Police PRO, Mrs. Ngozi Braide said Pastor Fireman was arrested on Tuesday five days after he was declared wanted by the police. She said investigation has commenced regarding his involvement.
